About the Anthology

Eight is for OCTO is an unofficial, fan anthology for fans of the entire series to come together and celebrate Octopath Traveler's iconic milestone: its 8th anniversary.Whether it be the original Octopath Traveler, the newest in the series with Octopath 0, or somewhere in between with Champions of the Continent and Octopath II, all fans are invited to contribute.Eight is for OCTO is non-profit and will be a free, digital only zine that will be available for download on the 13th of July, 2026.

FAQ

Can we create something for a ship?
Absolutely. We're not here to judge your taste, and the moderators of the anthology will work to properly organizing and labeling all of the content in a Table of Contents so that any needed navigation can be made.Can we create something for OCs?
Absolutely. We of the anthology just kindly ask that your Original Character is of the heart of Octopath Traveler. This means it can be a completely Original Character created specifically for the Octopath Traveler series, or a Sona or Self Insert that has been (re)designed to fit within Octopath.Additionally, this means if you would like to create OCxCanon or selfship/yumeship fanwork, you are free to do so.Will you accept NSFW submissions?
Yes. Ideally, we would like to separate a "Day" and "Night" zine so that those who want to enjoy or avoid one or the other can do so with ease.However, because we cannot guarantee there will be enough Not Safe For Work content to warrant a separate publication, if in the event we cannot format like this, Not Safe For Work submissions will be put in their own, smaller section in the back of the larger anthology.Wait. Does this mean my squick/NoTP will be included in the anthology?
Possibly. As elaborated in the answers above, the mods will work to the best of their ability to format and label contributions appropriately for individualized navigation. If you feel uncomfortable knowing this and no longer wish to participate, we understand.But, surely this is only meant for the "talented" fans, right?
The only disqualifying factor is if the submission is found to have been created with GenAI/an LLM. Otherwise, have fun!

Guidelines

Contributors are allowed to compose and distribute their submission(s) however they wish as long as it accommodates the following:Everyone
• Completely new, unposted work(s) created for this event.
• The submission was NOT created with GenAI/an LLM.
• The total submitted per contributor is at or under the following requirements listed below for the contributor's type (artist/writer).Art, Cosplay, and Photography
• The submission is sized to accommodate an A4 (210 x 297mm) page.
• The total submitted is no larger than two A4 pages worth of space.In the event you would like to make digital merch: please make sure the “merchandise” is something easily distributed through digital means (ex. a print-at-home bookmark design).Remember this is a digital only zine and will not need to accommodate for a bleed.Cosplayers DO NOT need to craft a new cosplay, just that the photograph(s) submitted has been previously unposted publicly.Writing and Poetry
• Fic Writers and Essayists: the total word count submitted does not exceed 2,000 words.
• Poets: the total word count submitted does not exceed 36 stanzas.Other
While we of Eight is for OCTO will work to the best of our ability to try and include whatever kind of contribution is submitted, please understand that there might be something outside of our moderators’ abilities to include. Before submitting, here are few more things to check for, so please read them to make sure everything is in order for us to properly attribute your submission(s).Artists:
If you would like to title your contribution, please note it in the form linked below. If you do not wish to give it a custom title, it will be attributed as "[the medium] of [character(s) depicted]" (ex. Illustration of the Chosen One, Cosplay of Cyrus Albright).Writers:
Make sure your fic is titled and includes any content warnings or tags you would like to include. Please put the title of the fic as the first line of the document and tags as the line beneath it. If it is for a ship, please note that here as well.Content warnings must be included (ex. Gore or Graphic Depictions of Violence, Dubcon/Noncon), other tags can also be included (ex. Hurt/Comfort, Modern AU, etc.). Other tags also helps a reader if the fic is right for them or not just as much as major ones, so while not necessary, adding these tags are encouraged.
